Frozen, Pet Food & Food Products
Of course, we want customers who buy via bol to keep doing so – and therefore it's important to offer them a reliable and safe product range together. This also applies to frozen items for pet food and food products. Because it's crucial that these items remain properly frozen, we set additional requirements here. You can find these requirements and the application process below.
PILOT: this product category is currently still in a pilot phase, and it is not possible to offer frozen items. However, interest can be communicated to: ojbulkfood@bol.com
Apply for selling rights for frozen pet food & food products
To obtain selling rights for the frozen product category, other policy rules for offering Food & Drink via bol still apply (such as all items being GS1 registered and having a minimum shelf life of 100 days from the moment of sale).
In addition to the current policy, the following conditions must be met:
- Items can only be offered within the Netherlands.
- There is no right of withdrawal (returns) possible for customers for these items sold via bol
- Only if a frozen item is delivered incorrectly or is damaged upon receipt, bol, in cooperation with the selling partner, offers a suitable solution, such as a replacement or refund.
- The product title and description must state that the item is delivered frozen.
- The partner must be registered with the NVWA as a food business and is therefore subject to audits/controls on food safety.
The Logistics Service Provider who will ship the frozen items must meet the following additional requirements:
- The logistics service provider must be specialized in storing and transporting frozen items to customers and adhere to laws and regulations.
- The logistics service provider must possess:
- NVWA registration as a food business.
- Certifications such as IFS Logistics or BRC Storage & Distribution to demonstrate compliance with high food safety requirements.
- The logistics service provider ensures that the temperature of frozen food products is regulated during handling at –18 °C and remains stable. A temporary and limited temperature increase may be tolerated during loading and unloading, but should normally not exceed -15°C.
If you meet all the above requirements, you can then apply for selling rights by following these steps:

A. Selling Rights: Frozen Pet Food & Food Products
B. Seller account name
C. Retailer ID

F. Are you applying for selling rights for 1 or more accounts? Fill in information A to D for each account.
G. ‘Yes, I agree to the additional conditions ‘Conditions of Use Professional Sales via bol’ for selling rights’ - In addition to the above application, also provide the following supporting documents so we can verify that you meet the conditions:
- NVWA registration of your company as a food business.

- Certification of the logistics service provider used (Leen Menken).
- We will check the submitted documentation, and if it meets the requirements, you will receive selling rights for frozen pet food & food products.

Once you have received selling rights, frozen items may be offered. Selling rights are checked periodically. Ensure your product range is always in order.
