Postponement of enforcement for responsible economic operator
Recently, you have worked hard to enter information about responsible economic operators for items sold via our platform. This is necessary to comply with the Digital Services Act (DSA) and the General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR). This allows us to offer our customers the safest possible product range. That was a lot of work, and we want to thank you very much for it. This ensures that we can demonstrate the safety of the items and guarantee the quality of our offer and, consequently, our platform. In this message, we inform you about a change in our enforcement and the taking offline of offers for which no responsible economic operator has yet been provided, and what that means for you as a partner of bol.
What has changed?
The obligations brought by these laws and regulations have not changed, but our enforcement approach has. We have decided, for now, not to take items offline if a responsible economic operator is missing for an item. The reason for this is that after consulting with various parties, we have realized there is so much unclarity in the market regarding the interpretation of these laws and regulations that we do not consider it responsible to take items offline.
Providing responsible economic operator information remains unchanged
These laws and regulations have been in effect since last year, including the associated obligations. It therefore remains a legal obligation to provide a responsible economic operator for the items you sell via our platform. We would like to point out that it remains important to provide the necessary data due to this obligation. On this page, we have explained how that works. Only in this way can we ensure that customers are protected against unsafe items. Thanks to all partners on our platform, we are successful in meeting this obligation, and that remains just as important.
Is this adjustment temporary?
It is possible that we will later resume enforcement for not providing economic operators for items sold via our platform. If that is the case, we will let you know immediately.
