People & Society

General environmental labels set social and/or environmental requirements. These can include, for example, requirements regarding water pollution, auxiliary materials, chemicals, the use of crop protection agents, decent working conditions, fair trade conditions for farmers, and improving the world.

Hands holding a heart.

Criteria

To apply for a label for this theme, a distinction is made between 3 categories: B Corp, social enterprises, and charities. Read below how these topics are considered when assessing whether or not to receive a label.

1. B Corp

B Corp is a certification for companies that have integrated sustainability into their business mission alongside profit. In doing so, they commit to a better world. The B Corp certification is comparable to a fairtrade label for coffee or the Eko-label for organic items, but it is a label for companies. B Corp companies distinguish themselves in social and environmental areas, and are transparent in this regard.

Criteria

Are you a B Corp company but not yet known as such by bol? Please contact Partnerservice to have this adjusted. Once your company is known as a B Corp, new product range will automatically be labeled.

2. Charities

Charity organizations are committed to solving societal problems. A charity is considered an institution of general public utility if it dedicates at least 90% of its efforts to the public interest. It must not be intended for profit and must meet integrity requirements.

Criteria

To ensure that an item is offered by a charity, it will be checked whether your organization is a member of CBF (Recognized Charity) or ANBI (Public Benefit Organization).

  • If your brand belongs to a charity organization and is a member of CBF or ANBI, all items of that brand will be labeled.
  • If your brand belongs to a charity organization and is a member of CBF or ANBI but is not yet known as such by bol? Please contact Partnerservice to have this adjusted.

To build a more sustainable, fair world for everyone, organizations working towards a social goal are much needed. Items within this category are, for example, fairtrade, from a social enterprise or a charity. An item must carry at least one of the following labels or characteristics to be eligible for a label:
