‘Winning the buy box more often, with profitable prices’

Growth in focus

Through ‘Apps & Services’, you, as an entrepreneur, can find reliable partners who help you grow. It was here that Mark Doors also discovered the EffectConnect repricer tool. Mark uses the tool to adjust more than 13,000 prices for the items in his kitchen store, Habitas. He gives us a look behind the scenes of his business: how do they successfully use such a repricer?

A great story about how you can grow faster together.

In short

  • Setting the right price is important. However, manually adjusting your prices becomes very time-consuming after a certain number of items. Through ‘Apps & Services’, you can find external parties who help you automate this process.
  • With a repricer tool, you set up scenarios. In this way, the tool helps you put your pricing strategy into practice.
  • Choose the repricer tool that fits your strategy. Are you aiming for discount prices or do you want to adapt to the market?

Mark, tell us, what is Habitas like?

‘Besides a physical store in Rotterdam, we also have an online shop. Our product range there has expanded to include everything for in and around the home. We sell our more than 13,000 items, among other channels, via bol.’

Tell us about your collaboration with EffectConnect.

‘They help us offer our entire product range via different platforms and with continuous price improvements. EffectConnect also offers various other automation possibilities to scale up marketplace sales. And that ensures efficiency. For example, manually adjusting more than 13,000 prices has long since ceased to be an option for us.’

Are there any other benefits to such a repricer?

‘We see that we more often win the buy box with profitable prices. We sell many items that have been repriced. We don't just see why they were adjusted, we also see when the tool did it. I'm not concerned with what prices do every day; I am particularly interested in how the different repricing scenarios work.’

What does such a scenario entail?

‘A scenario is a set of rules with which you configure the repricer's behavior. We set up the various scenarios in the tool ourselves, so that the repricer reacts differently to different circumstances and always sets the price as we want it.’

‘With the repricing tool, it's easy to go through all these scenarios. For each situation, we determine what the software does with the price. If I notice that the current scenarios don't recognize a new situation, we add a new scenario with EffectConnect. This way, we constantly work on improving our repricer. In summary: without an advanced repricer, it would be impossible for us to implement our pricing strategy via the bol platform.’

Which pricing strategy do you use?

‘Habitas doesn't always want to be the cheapest, but always the best. Price is therefore not the only element. The result of the repricer for us is that we have the buy box for as many items as possible and always offer a market-conform price.’

Does this mean that not every repricer is suitable for everyone?

‘That's right. If you're a price fighter, a tool that always offers the lowest price is enough. If you mainly use market-conform prices, then you need a repricer that offers multiple scenarios. Your price can be a weapon, but it can also work against you if you use it incorrectly. A repricer tool can help strengthen your position in the market.’
