Introducing the Promotional Buy Box
From mid-August, we will start an experiment where we add a Promotional Buy Box, next to the regular Buy Box. This gives you a better chance of being shown in the search results and on the item page. If the promotional price is more favorable for customers than the regular offer, we will automatically show the promotional buy box. The regular buy box will remain visible next to it, but less prominently.
Why are we doing this?
Since July 6, 2026, a pilot has been running with approximately 1000 partners for a new type of promotion. This promotion is called 'X+Y free'. Within this promotion type, partners participating in the pilot can create promos themselves in the seller account. If successful, we will further roll out this promotion type at the beginning of Q4. Not all partners can participate and create X+Y promos now.
How do I win the Promotional Buy Box?
If you want to win the Promotional Buy Box, a number of conditions apply:
- You are participating in an 'X+Y free' promotion
- Your promotion complies with bol's guidelines
- You have sufficient stock of the item
- It concerns a new item (so no refurbished or second-hand)
- Only during the pilot: As a partner, you have a quality score of 65
It may happen that multiple partners have a promotion running on the same item. To determine who gets the buy box in that case, we look at the following:
- The promotional price of the item including shipping costs and VAT
- The delivery time of the item
