New: Shop assistant – bol's AI assistant

A new way to be found and chosen
The way customers search and shop online is changing rapidly. They are increasingly using AI and asking questions instead of searching with individual keywords.
At bol, we are actively building the future of e-commerce. Driven by our ambition to be the starting point for online shopping, we are developing new ways for customers to discover, compare, and choose items.
That's why we have started the development of Shop assistant.
What is Shop assistant?
Shop assistant will be a new feature within bol that helps customers find and compare the right item faster.
Customers will state their wishes in their own words and then receive product advice that matches their needs and situation. This makes shopping more personal and helps customers make a choice more quickly.
What does this mean for you?

Shop assistant will offer customers an additional way to find items, alongside the existing search and browse experience.
- More relevant matches with customers
Items will better align with customer demand, which can lead to a greater chance of purchase. - New opportunities for advertising
We can also display existing Sponsored Products in this environment, without extra work.
What can you do?
At the moment, you don't need to change anything. Your product range will automatically be included in the test phase of Shop assistant. As before, it remains important to have your basics in order:
- Strong content
- A good price
- Reliable delivery
This ensures that your items remain easily discoverable through all the ways customers shop.
From July 15: first test phase
From July 15, we will start with a first test of Shop assistant.
- We are testing with a very small group of customers
- It is an early version
- The focus is on learning and improving
