When should you use X+Y free?
'X+Y free' is a good choice if your customers buy multiple items at once. Certain items are most suitable for this, such as consumables, variants, or complementary items. And when you want a higher order value without lowering your price for a single item.
A few examples of items and combinations that work well:
'X+Y free' works well for:
- Consumables: these are items that people need to buy repeatedly. Think of cleaning products, baby care, cosmetics, or soft drinks.
- Variants: these are items you sell in different colors, different contents, or different sizes. Think of fashion items, coffee pods, or storage items.
- Complementary items: these are items that customers often buy in combination with each other, such as shampoo and conditioner, sunscreen and after-sun, protein powder and bars, but also lampshades and lamps. You can therefore use 'X+Y free' for product combinations.
Of course, many more items and combinations are suitable for this promotion!
When do I choose which value?
- 1+1 ideal for items that customers already buy more often
- 2+1 or 3+1 strong for variants or complementary items
- 4+1 works well for cheaper items where the threshold for the customer is low
How is the discount calculated?
