Select items

When creating a campaign, you need to select items to add. Which items are suitable and what if you cannot find an item? At the bottom of this page, you will find a checklist of the most common reasons why items cannot be found.

There are a number of factors that affect the delivery of your ads. It is important to pay close attention to these when selecting items.

  • Breadcrumb trail: Check whether the breadcrumb trail accompanying your item is correct, as these are the same categories in which your ads will be visible.
  • Product specifications: All product specifications should be entered correctly. For example, is there a brand, publisher or genre missing here? Then you cannot advertise with the item.
  • Price stars: The more price stars you have, the better your organic ranking will be. This automatically means your ads will be shown more often.
  • Buy box: If your item doesn’t have the best-selling position? Then you do not have a buy box and cannot advertise it. Read more about the buy box here.
  • Item photos and description: Good product information affects your organic ranking. The higher your organic ranking is, the better your ad scores.
  • Performance score: The higher your performance scores the more you have a chance of getting the best sales position.

The number of items in your sponsored products campaign

We recommend placing a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 20 items in a campaign. This way you ensure that you keep the right overview of the results of the various items and keywords. Additionally, you keep a grip on the campaign. How? Because you know exactly which items are displayed when a visitor uses a keyword you advertise on. Adding 30 to 50 products in a campaign doesn’t necesserily have to be a problem, as long as you have a sufficient daily budget. If you add too many items to your campaign, you will lose the overview of the results faster, resulting in campaigns that are less efficient.

Do you have more than 20 (or 30) products in your campaign? Then consider excluding items to create more overview.

Blacklist

Advertising in sponsored products is allowed on all items offered by bol, unless otherwise specified by the Advertising Code Committee, by regulations, for example. This includes infant formula (0 to 6 months) and certain medicines.
