Selling rights

Naturally, we want customers who buy through bol.com to continue to do so - and so it is important to offer them a reliable and safe range together. Therefore, additional sales conditions apply to certain product groups and in some cases, there is a brand policy for selective distribution. Find out whether this also applies to your range on this page.

When do selling rights apply?

When do selling rights apply?

Selling rights limit the open platform principle. That’s why bol.com will not make this mandatory easily. We will only decide to implement selling rights for an assortment group or brand if there are signals indicating that the customer proposition is structurally compromised. Based on these signals, we will also determine the frequency of the periodic reassessment (the more signals, the higher the frequency of the reassessment).

This is how selling rights work

For selected brands or product ranges you have to prove that the items were purchased through an authorised seller. To verify if you meet the quality requirements, we request several documents during an application and periodically. The requested documents may differ per product group. These include documents to verify the quality, safety and authenticity of a product. In this way, we ensure that articles with selling rights continuously meet the standards.

Changes concerning selling rights

Selling rights may apply to selected brands or products ranges. We have revised the checking process, and we are starting a pilot with about ten brands. During this pilot, we will do these checks both in advance and periodically (in between). In addition, we will no longer perform these checks ourselves; an external party will do them.
