Creating a shipment for an unknown EAN
If an item has an unknown EAN, this can cause issues with its processing in the fulfilment center. It is therefore important to add the unknown EAN to your offer and have bol link it to existing items. By doing this correctly, you prevent the loss of product reviews and ensure smooth processing in bol's system and fulfilment center.
Step-by-step plan for adding unknown EAN items

Add the new EAN
- Add the item again to your seller account, but this time with the new EAN.
- You can do this manually one by one or multiple items at once via a bulk upload or the Retailer API.

Contact Partnerservice
- After you have added the item:
- Before submitting a request to Partnerservice, we recommend that you first review our general guidelines on the correct use of EANs.
- Contact Partnerservice via chat or email at zakelijkverkopen@bol.com.
- Clearly state:
- The item
- All EANs that need to be linked
- Indicate which EAN should be used as the main EAN. Choose the EAN that is already known to bol and to which product reviews may already be linked.
Why is this important?
- Only the reviews of the main EAN remain visible after linking. If you do not provide this correctly, valuable reviews may be lost.
- After submitting the request to link your items, it will be assessed whether it complies with all established guidelines. If the items from the EANs are not identical, for example, if they differ by more than just the language version, the linking request may be rejected.

EAN linking confirmation
- Once the linking request has been assessed, Partnerservice will contact you.
- If confirmed, the item is correctly linked to the main EAN.
- Any Shipping via bol stock on the old EAN will remain available.

Create a new pre-notification
Now that the new EAN has been correctly added and linked:
- Create a new Shipping via bol pre-notification with the correct (main) EAN.
- Ensure that your pre-notification matches the physical item and the shipment you are sending.

- Shipments being processed incorrectly
- Experiencing unnecessary delays
