Responsible economic operators

On this page, you can read how to manage your economic operators. This is a requirement according to the Digital Services Act (DSA), which is part of European legislation.

Read all about the Digital Services Act on the page DSA legislation.

Responsible economic operator

The responsible economic operator can be the manufacturer, authorized representative, importer, distributor, fulfillment service provider, or other natural or legal persons for whom obligations apply with regard to the manufacture of products, their offering on the market, or their commissioning in accordance with the applicable Union harmonization legislation (Article 3 point 13 Regulation EU 2019/1020).

How do I manage my economic operators?

First and foremost, it's important that you, as a partner, know who the responsible economic operators in the EU are. If you don't know yet, consult a (legal) advisory firm.

Managing economic operators consists of 2 parts:

  1. Adding your economic operators
  2. Linking economic operators to the correct items
1

Adding your economic operators

You can manage your economic operators in your seller account. To do this, go to Settings and then select the 'Economic Operators' page. Here you can add new economic operators and change the information of existing ones. Make sure all your economic operators are listed in this overview. Every partner must do this for themselves, so you are not dependent on others.

Adding multiple economic operators at once

It is also possible to create multiple economic operators at once using an Excel file. Do this in 3 steps:

  • Download the Excel template at the bottom of the page
  • Fill in the data of the economic operators (do not change the column names)
  • Upload your file with economic operators

Linking economic operators to the correct items

Now that your economic operators are known, it's time to link them to the correct items.

You can do this in 2 ways:

  • One by one
  • For multiple items at once

With Excel, via ‘add items in bulk’

To add economic operators in bulk via Excel, go to add items in bulk. If you download an example Excel file, you will see a column ‘economic operator’. In this column, you will see the economic operators you have set up via settings. Place your items in the Excel file using the EAN code, select the corresponding economic operator, and save your changes. It is not necessary to fill in other columns to add the economic operator. You can then upload the file to your seller account so that your links are added.

One by one

To link economic operators to items one by one, go to the item overview and click 'Edit'. Then go to the item overview. On this page, scroll down, and you will see a heading 'Economic Operator'. Select the responsible economic operator in the EU for this item here.

For multiple items at once

To select the same responsible economic operator in the EU for multiple items at once, go to the item overview. Here you can select multiple items. Then click 'Select economic operator' and choose the economic operator that belongs to those items.

🚀 You can do this even faster by first filtering by, for example, a brand or product category, or by pasting a list of EANs into the search bar and then linking all those items to an economic operator at once. Super convenient!

Have you automated your processes via the API?

It is also possible to manage your economic operators via the Retailer API. For more information, visit our developers website or go directly to the functional documentation on economic operators.

When completely removing an item from your product range

Please note: if you completely remove an item from your product range, you must re-add the economic operator, just like price and delivery time, if you want to add this item to your offer again. If you keep an item in your offer but temporarily have no stock or pause the offer, the economic operator will remain.
