Delivery time

On this page, you'll find tips for improving your delivery times.

Improve delivery times

Customers value receiving their order on time, which is why it's so important to meet your delivery promise. These tips can help you with that.

  1. Ensure a realistic delivery promise
When you use a realistic delivery promise, there's a greater chance that the customer will receive their order on time. Therefore, within your delivery promise, don't just account for the time you need to prepare an order; also factor in the time the delivery service needs to deliver the package. Do you deliver across borders? Pay extra attention to your delivery time to ensure you can meet your delivery promise. Do you offer items that are not supplied from your own product range – so-called cross-dock items? Then it's advisable to also consider this in your delivery promise. You can easily adjust the delivery promise for multiple items at once.
  2. Only confirm your order after you have shipped it
The order status cannot be changed once you have confirmed it. Also, when confirming after shipping, you can still add shipping details, such as the track & trace number and the delivery service. Additionally, early confirmation can be confusing for the customer. They will then receive a shipping confirmation and assume the item is on its way.
  3. Take action if your delivery service often delivers late
You can do this in two ways. You can choose to extend your delivery time, or to choose a different delivery service. Ultimately, the goal is for the customer to receive the order by the promised day at the latest, and for your product range to be attractive to buy.
  4. Temporarily close your shop when you can't sell
By temporarily closing your shop, you can clear outstanding orders and stop receiving new ones for a while. Your offer will then temporarily not be online via bol and will therefore not be visible to customers.
  5. Make use of Shipping via bol
With the Shipping via bol service, you can send your orders worry-free at attractive rates – as long as you ship from the Netherlands. Additionally, we no longer hold you accountable for the carrier's performance, only for timely delivery to the carrier. You can find more information on this page.
