About Anthesis - Climate Neutral Group
Anthesis - Climate Neutral Group (CNG) was founded in 2002 and merged in 2022 with the world's largest international sustainability consultancy firm Anthesis. Our mission is to pragmatically help organisations achieve Zero CO2 emissions. We do this by offering services based on 4 pillars:

Worldwide, CNG has supported over 4,000 organisations in understanding and reducing CO2 (including Ahold, bol, Booking.com, Wetransfer etc.) and has offset more than 12 million tonnes of CO₂. Additionally, we have developed the ‘Climate Neutral Certification’ label, which provides recognition for your climate actions.
What can we do for your organisation?
We can calculate the CO2 emissions for your organisation, your item or service. For an organisation, we map out, among other things, energy and gas consumption, company cars, commuting, and business travel. For (online) retailers, CO2 emissions are largely in the items offered. This is often even more than 90% of the total climate impact. Climate Neutral Group calculates the CO2 emissions of delivered items. We delve into the supply chain and perform a Carbon Life Cycle Assessment (LCA, a footprint of an item's emissions). If you start working on this, also consider certification, so your item can visibly bear the label ‘Climate Neutral Certification’ .
CO2 footprint - Item range analysis
We can map out your organisation's CO2 emissions. Think of packaging, mobility, transport, energy, and air travel. But most likely, the largest emissions are in your item range. With an ‘item range analysis’ we map out the CO2 emissions of your item range. We look at the entire supply chain (scope 3) of your items. Most retailers sell hundreds of different items, making this a very time-consuming process. An ‘item range analysis’ reduces the complete range to a number of representative items. Their CO2 is calculated. Subsequently, the emissions are scaled up to the complete range. With these insights, we can then draw up an action plan to take the next step: reducing your climate impact.
Why move towards a more sustainable item range?
The effects of climate change are becoming increasingly visible. Understanding your supply chain is an essential part of managing climate risks. Furthermore, governments and customers increasingly expect more from companies regarding sustainability. For example, from 2024, the European Union expects extensive sustainability reporting in the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).
CO2 reduction
Understanding your CO2 footprint is the start of CO2 reduction. For each part of the footprint, we examine where we can reduce CO2 emissions as much as possible. Additionally, we can tackle reduction in your items' supply chain in a structured way. We establish an ambition and a reduction strategy. We ensure support from your company's board or management. By jointly creating a realistic ‘Plan of Approach’ we make your route to net-zero CO2 by 2050 a success. We have already helped more than 3000 companies reduce their CO2 emissions.
CO2 offsetting
Offsetting your CO2 emissions fits an ambitious climate strategy and is necessary to achieve climate goals. After CO2 reduction, CO2 emissions still remain. Net-zero CO2 emissions are only achieved in the longer term. To do more NOW and truly contribute, CO2 offsetting is an interim solution until a better alternative is available. This way, you ensure you take responsibility for the remaining emissions. By offsetting, you invest in one of our sustainable climate projects that provide the same amount of CO2 reduction elsewhere. And offsetting creates impact that goes beyond climate! With our projects, you also contribute to the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Climate Neutral Certified label
The ‘Climate Neutral Certification’ label gives you recognition for your climate actions. The label is now even one of the nine top labels in the Netherlands, and customers like bol and Wetransfer choose it to show what you are actually doing to lower your CO2 according to international climate guidelines. Start now with insight and reduction; additionally, opt for certification and be recognised for your efforts! Companies like bol, Plus supermarket, and Wetransfer have already led the way.
