These commissions change as of March 1
The more complete our combined offer, the more attractive it is for the customer and the more successfully we can sell together. That's why, as of March 1, we are lowering the commission rates for several product categories, making it more interesting to sell via bol in these categories. This may offer you great new sales opportunities!
To remain a strong platform for Dutch and Belgian customers, price is important, alongside quality and reliability. And we all benefit from this; satisfied customers return more often to spend more. We also know that maintaining a good margin can be a challenge when setting competitive prices, and we want to help with that. That's why we regularly review our commissions. For example, the variable part of commissions is now decreasing in several product categories.
These are the commission changes
The table below shows for which product range the variable part of the commission is being reduced. The fixed amount you pay per item therefore does not change.
In addition, commissions within the Food and Drink category are being harmonized, which entails the following changes:
How to benefit from the reductions
If you already sell via bol in the categories where the commission is being lowered, you will immediately have a larger margin on the selling price as of March 1, 2022. This is an opportunity to set competitive prices, which will make your offer more attractive to (potential) customers and allow you to grow faster. You can also benefit from this by adding more items from these product categories to your product range or by expanding your product range to other product categories where the commission is now lower. Both can lead to more sales and thus give you more profit in the end!
Calculation example
Suppose you sell memory cards for 30 euros. The fixed part of the commission for memory cards remains unchanged at 0.83 euros. The variable part of the commission is being reduced from 12.4% to 8%, which means 1.32 euros less than before.
