As of July 1, 2026, the European CLP (Classification, Labelling & Packaging) legislation imposes stricter requirements on what safety information must be visible online for items containing hazardous substances. In this news item, we inform you about the mandatory content (attributes).

How do I recognise these items?

Items with hazardous substances can be identified by customers through hazard icons such as environmental hazard, highly flammable, or harmful (see below).

This content is not new, but as of July 1, it must also be displayed on online marketplaces like bol. These hazardous substances are often found in cleaning products, glue, and paint, and it is important to inform the customer properly about them. As a partner, you are responsible for ensuring that this required information is correctly and completely filled in for the items you offer.

What content is involved?

The following content must be completely and correctly filled in:

  • Chemical name of the item
  • EC or CAS number
  • Ingredient list
  • Content (ml, l, kg)
  • Precautionary statements (P-phrases)
  • Hazard statements (H-phrases)
  • Supplemental hazard statements (EUH-phrases)
  • Unique Formula Identifier (UFI)
  • Label language
  • Safety data sheet

The signal word & hazard icons will be automatically generated based on the input you, as a partner, have provided for your item. Items for which this information is missing or incorrect will be taken offline.

Which items must comply with this?

Hazardous substances are found in many different items, from cleaning products to paint and from glue to denture cleaner. It is therefore essential that you, as a partner, ensure that the correct information is filled in for your items. The required content should already be visible on the physical item. As a

partner, you can request the necessary information about your product range from your supplier.

Correct content

It is not permitted to fill the information fields of your item with incorrect content. Some examples of this are the following:

  • see label”,
  • “not applicable”,
  • “… the composition of this item changes continuously, check the packaging for the latest version of the item”

We will take the item offline if we find incomplete or incorrect content. Please note, these are just a few examples, no rights can be derived from them.

When will we enforce this?

Since May 1, 2026, it has been possible to fill in the required content for your items. This summer, we will gradually check and enforce whether the mandatory content is correctly filled in. Items that do not comply due to missing content and/or incorrectly filled-in content will be taken offline. Items that are completely and correctly filled in will automatically come back online after enforcement. We will communicate later when enforcement begins.
