New rules for the fixed book price from August 19
In the Netherlands, many books have a fixed price. You are not allowed to sell these books for more than the set price. Bol has been enforcing this since June 15. From August 19, bol will also enforce offers sold below the set book price.
What changes for you?
We check whether your items comply with the Fixed Book Price Act. Is the item registered with the Commissariaat voor de Media (media commission CvdM)? Then your selling price in the Netherlands may not be higher than the fixed book price plus a maximum of €7 shipping costs. And not lower than the price registered with the CvdM.

Take action
Check whether your prices match the applicable fixed book price. If a price is higher or lower than allowed, the offer may no longer be sold via bol.
Does this apply to all books?
Is your book priced lower than the applicable fixed book price and does it meet the following characteristics? Then it falls under enforcement.
Your book is:
- Dutch-language
- New (not second-hand)
- A physical copy (soft or hardback)
- A fixed book price is known via the CvdM
Which items are excluded from enforcement?
- E-books and digital audiobooks
- Non-Dutch titles
- Second-hand books
Consequences for your offer
If an item does not comply with the rules, we will take it offline. If you adjust the price to the correct level, your item will automatically come back online.
