What is an A/B test?

An A/B test evaluates a hypothesis using two different versions. One half of customers sees version A, the other half sees version B. Customer behavior for both versions is compared to see which version leads to the highest conversion. After the A/B test, it's determined which version yielded the best result and thus if the hypothesis is correct.

Tests often focus on conversion. Conversion is the percentage of customers who view an item and then order it. The higher this percentage, the better the sales! Through A/B testing, we investigate how to increase conversion.
