Please note: change in service standard Shipping via bol

bol package

From August 1st, we are implementing a change to the 'Items on time' service standard. This change applies to all partners who use Shipping via bol.

What's changing?

For the 'Items on time' service standard, we assess shipments with Shipping via bol based on the handover moment to the carrier. This means that at least 93% of shipments must be handed over to the carrier before the latest drop-off time. Currently, our assessment still considers the delivery time to the customer. This allows a carrier to compensate for a late handover by the partner with a timely delivery to the customer. From August 1st, we will no longer include the customer delivery time in the assessment and will solely focus on the handover moment to the carrier.

Please note

When we ask you to drop off your packages at a collection point for Shipping via bol, you are responsible for obtaining a drop-off scan at these locations. Skipping this drop-off scan by placing your shipments in large mailboxes, handing them over to your own collection service, or delivering them directly to a depot is at your own risk. If, for any reason, the collection point is unwilling to scan your packages immediately, you must report this without delay. We will then follow up with the carrier.

Why this change?

The delivery promise is important to our shared customers, and we want to live up to it. Currently, a longer delivery promise is often used to ensure that customers receive their orders as agreed. By tightening the 'Items on time' assessment, we aim to make a positive contribution to the 'ordered today, delivered tomorrow' delivery promise. Of course, we are also looking into possibilities to implement improvements on the carriers' side.

New delivery performance calculation

To determine if your shipment was handed over to the carrier on time, we look at the following scans:

  1. First, we check if a scan is registered at the collection point and whether it was scanned before or after the collection time.
  2. If no scan is registered, we then look at the sorting scan. For DHL and PostNL, this must occur before 06:00 AM on the day after the expected handover day. For Instabox, this must occur before 05:00 PM on the expected handover day.
