Renewal of our measurement system

At bol, we are continuously improving our platform. For greater data consistency and future-proofing of our retail and advertising solutions, we are introducing a new measurement system. With the new measurement system, we can innovate faster and better; for example, the system lays the foundation for AI and LLM (Large Language Models). We also align with the retail media IAB standards introduced in December 2024, thereby contributing to the professionalization of the retail media market.
We are starting to renew our measurement method for sponsored products. In the coming period, further adjustments will follow step-by-step, both for our other advertising solutions and for retail solutions such as Data via bol. We will keep you informed, and you can find more explanation on this page.
Why this change?
The retail media market is rapidly developing and professionalizing. More and more advertisers are asking for clear, uniform standards to accurately compare performance. bol is taking an important step by renewing our measurement method, more in line with the IAB Europe Retail Media Measurement Guidelines.
What does this mean for you?
- With this new measurement method, you can more easily compare results between advertisements from different retailers and channels within the retail media market. This provides more clarity in the interpretation of advertising data and makes it possible to assess performance more consistently.
- The effect of this new measurement method is also that in the coming weeks your advertising results may change due to the switch to different definitions for user interaction (e.g., clicks).
What can you do?
To help you deal with this change, we have listed a number of actions you can take in the coming period:
- Review your benchmarks: Don't compare your performance one-on-one with previous periods, but look at trends within the new measurement system.
- Monitor your campaigns: Pay attention to shifts in clicks, CTR, conversion rates, and ACoS.
- Adjust your targeting and budgets where necessary: Due to the new measurement method, clicks may shift between different page types, for example. Use the new results to improve your campaigns and continue to aim for the best possible outcome for you.
