How can search trends help you sell better?
Tests show that partners grow faster by actively working with this data. You can use the information from bol search trends for several purposes:
- Item title: which search terms do customers use to look for my item?
You use bol search trends to find out which search term is most frequently used by bol visitors. For example: do you call your item a 'vaatwasautomaat', 'afwasautomaat', 'vaatwasser', or 'afwasmachine'? Based on the search trends page, you know that bol customers most often use 'vaatwasser'. Therefore, it's advisable to name your item 'vaatwasser' to best align with how your potential customer searches for your item. - Spotting seasonal trends: what does the trend for my item look like?
With bol search trends, you can better anticipate seasons and emerging trends with your purchases. This tool can help you better estimate when customers are interested in, for example, Christmas baubles or school bags. - Item research: what are bol visitors interested in?
The search volume provides an estimate of how many visitors are interested in something. For example, consider interest in a:
– item type, such as 'vacuum cleaner'
– brand, such as 'Philips'
– color, for example, 'blue vacuum cleaner'.
Is there a lot of interest in your (potential) item? Then it can be valuable to also check the current offer on bol. Based on this, you can estimate whether your item has sales potential and where opportunities lie. For example, are there still few similar items? Or is the current offer of moderate quality – meaning the content is incomplete, the delivery time is long, or the selling price is high? This could indicate that the customer can be served even better.
Tip
Avoid multiple spellings of one word in your title. Also, make sure you don't use other words that mean the same thing (synonyms). This keeps your title clear and organized. Also, don't change your title too often; this can seem messy and confusing. Moreover, it worsens your visibility. If you're unsure how to spell a word, look it up before you put it online. Our algorithm accounts for common spelling mistakes (such as with words like 'accessoires'), so even if the customer spells the word incorrectly, they will land in the right place.
What you need to know when using the tool
- It may take a while for the data to load. If you don't see all trend lines immediately, please be patient.
- The tool is not case-sensitive. It is also not sensitive to special characters such as: é, ë, õ. So, for 'Hãrry Pôtter', it searches for the volume of 'harry potter'.
- This tool provides insight into the bol shopping platform and therefore insights into your own product range.
- The search volume always applies to the selected period.
