Reduced risk of order errors, complaints, and much higher efficiency

with special warehouse software

Since 2019, Parfumdeo.nl has been using special warehouse software for online stores with a warehouse. This significantly reduces the risk of order errors, complaints, and 'out-of-stock' situations, while greatly improving efficiency.

Jan Droogsma explains how it works.

Parfumdeo.nl focuses on the purchase and sale of cosmetics, drugstore items, perfumes, hair products, and household items, for both consumers and businesses. Jan Droogsma started the online store in his parents' garage. He now has his own premises and a 400 m2 warehouse, and he offers nearly 40,000 items. This rapid growth also brought challenges. He explains: ‘I started as a sole proprietorship and had about 1,000 items on the shelf myself, but that wasn't enough to properly differentiate myself. Then I started working more based on supplier stock, which allowed me to make my offer ten times larger. That caught on, and gradually I expanded, both in product range and warehouse space. For the past two years, I have also been selling via bol. I initially started this to boost my sales. That worked well, and it now yields positive results. I currently sell via our own online store and via bol.com. Recently, I've had my own account manager from bol who proactively brainstorms with me.’

How it works

‘Since 2019, we've been working with Picqer. Before, every day around 9 AM, we'd hit the print button and end up with a stack of a few hundred packing slips. Each day, these had to be processed manually. Just printing the labels and sticking them onto the correct parcels took us at least an hour and a half every day. And that amount kept growing. So yes, mistakes sometimes happened; someone might accidentally swap two labels, resulting in two unhappy customers. Eventually, this became unmanageable, and through word of mouth, I came across Picqer. We had good discussions with them, they gave a clear presentation, and we received a one-month trial period. It's important to take the time to set it up correctly. Of course, this varies for every company. They are very helpful in thinking along with you. With Picqer, you can easily automate all processes in your warehouse, and you have one system to manage everything that happens in the warehouse: keeping track of stock, receiving purchases, sending orders, and processing returns.'

We have enormous paper savings

What it delivers

‘We collaborate well, and I see many advantages. For example, we no longer print packing slips. This alone provides enormous paper savings and thus reduces costs. Furthermore, the number of errors in orders has decreased significantly. We've received scanning devices that employees use to process orders. Whereas in the past, mistakes might have occurred in 1 out of every 100 parcels, now it's only 1 out of 2,000. Picqer promises to eliminate 90% of errors, and that holds true. I always tell my staff: 'Just follow the device, it's always right.'

‘But it's not just about cost savings; we can now handle many more orders. Previously, processing 100 parcels would take an entire day. Now, we laugh at that, and someone can handle double that amount in less time. So, it's a huge difference.

Overall, I can say that my results have greatly improved since I started selling via bol and using warehouse software. This is due to many factors, of course, but it all adds up. Where I used to have 100 orders and could deliver 98 of them, now it's 99. That might seem small, but with large volumes, it makes a significant difference.'

When is it useful?

‘I can recommend Picqer, especially if you receive more than 50 to 100 orders a day and can no longer keep up with your own tasks. They bring calm to your organization and help you further professionalize your activities. Write down exactly what you want beforehand and let them think along with you. That way, you'll get the best results. When I look at where we stood five years ago and where we are now, it feels like we've climbed the Eiffel Tower.’
