Stock limit
On this page, you can read everything about the maximum number of items you can store with Logistics via bol.
In your stock analysis, you can see your current stock limit and your expected stock limit for the coming month. You can find your stock analysis in your seller account by going to the 'Items' menu and choosing 'Logstics via bol Stock Analysis'. A stock limit is the maximum number of items you can store in bol's fulfilment centers.
When creating a shipment notification, please take your stock limit into account. Sometimes it's not possible to deliver the desired number of items, as you need to consider your assigned stock limit. Items that have been pre-notified but are not yet on their way, in addition to items already in stock at bol, also occupy a portion of your stock limit.
The stock limit is divided into categories. This means that in addition to a stock limit for regular product range, a stock limit can also be added for specific product range. The different stock limits can be found in the shipment notification screen in the seller account. You can find the type of product range in the 'Category' column and the breakdown of your total stock limit under the information icon at the bottom.
Why is there a stock limit? The stock limit makes it possible to make the best use of the storage space in our fulfilment centers and to ensure our partners' stock is as healthy as possible.
Determining the stock limit
Each month, your new stock limit for the upcoming month is determined based on the health of your stock. We look at:
- Expected sales (historical sales and growth adjustments)
- Your current stock health
- The type of product range
- Available storage space in the fulfilment centers.
- This calculation method is the same for all partners selling via the Logstics via bol service.
Your expected stock limit for the following month is adjusted weekly and is therefore an indication. Your final stock limit for the following month will only be determined on the first business day of the new month.
Stock health
Your stock health is determined based on the expected speed (number of days) at which items are sold. We consider a turnover rate of 28 days to be healthy here.
Duration of the stock limit
Your stock limit is fixed for one month. We will communicate your new stock limit on the first business day of the new month, and it will be valid for that month.
Your current stock limit and your expected stock limit for the following month are shown in your seller account. Please note: your expected stock limit for the following month is adjusted weekly and is therefore an indication. Your final stock limit for the following month will only be determined on the first business day of the new month.
Increasing the stock limit
If your stock limit has been increased, you have the option to pre-notify extra items in your seller account. For this, carefully check your stock limit and current stock in your seller account. Only send stock that you expect to sell within 4 weeks.
Decreasing the stock limit
If your stock limit has been decreased, 2 situations are possible:
- Your current stock is still below your stock limit, so you have the option to send more items to us. You can pre-notify extra items in your seller account. For this, carefully check your stock limit and current stock in your seller account. Only send stock that you expect to sell within 4 weeks.
- Your current stock is above your stock limit. You can no longer pre-notify items. Try to stimulate the sale of your items by improving the content or lowering the price. You can also retrieve stock. For this, carefully check the stock analysis dashboard in your seller account to see which items are selling little to none.
Pre-notifying a shipment
When creating a new shipment, your stock limit ensures that you can pre-notify a maximum number of items. As soon as you approach your stock limit, this will be shown during the creation of a shipment.
Calculation
The maximum number of items you can pre-notify is calculated as follows:
Your stock limit minus the number of items in stock, minus the number of items already pre-notified and not yet received (reserved), is the maximum number of items you can pre-notify.
Determining current stock
The number of items in stock can be viewed in your seller account. As soon as a customer places an order, this will be deducted from your current stock. Also, when you place a return shipment to retrieve items, this will be deducted from your current stock. Please note that it may take several hours for your current stock status to be updated in your seller account.
Please note: the number of items that have been pre-notified and not yet received is reserved and will be deducted from the maximum number of items you can pre-notify.
Example:
If you pre-notified one hundred items and accidentally only send ninety, we will reserve the remaining ten items for three more business days after receiving the shipment. After that, the ten items that did not arrive will be released. It is therefore important that the number of items in your shipment notification matches the number of items in your shipment. This way, you maintain an overview of your current stock.
Return shipments
During the holiday season, we expect a high number of return shipments, which means we unfortunately cannot always guarantee the standard ten business days. We do our utmost to process shipments as quickly as possible (within a maximum of twenty business days).
Restrictions when processing your shipment
It is no longer possible to schedule a shipment for the next day. A new shipment to the fulfilment center must be pre-notified at least two business days in advance.
It may also happen that during extreme busy periods, we temporarily cannot allow deliveries. These days will then not be selectable as an option when creating a new Logstics via bol shipment.
Peak rate on stock
In the months of October, November, and December, a peak rate applies to stock.
