The Good Choice Label
Together with you, we want to offer customers a wide product range – including items with specific benefits. We inform our customers about these benefits through our Good Choice Label. Labeled items have significant (sustainability) benefits compared to similar items. At a glance, the label provides more information about, for example, the origin, production, and environmental impact of an item. We want to continuously grow the share of items with a Good Choice Label in our product range and help customers make well-informed choices.
Within our wide product range, it's important for customers to make well-informed choices. This includes not only specifications or quality but also the origin, production process, and environmental impact of items. Our customers are looking for items with sustainability benefits, and we are responsible for informing them about these. We ensure that items with significant (sustainability) advantages over other items are easily recognizable and findable in our store. For you, as a partner, it is therefore extra important to label your items correctly!
When does an item qualify for a label?
Within the bol product range, items are labeled with the Good Choice Label if they meet at least 1 of these 3 criteria:
- The item has an approved quality mark
- The item consists of at least 50% more sustainable material, for example, Cork, Lyocell, or Linen
- The item belongs to a product category approved as a more sustainable alternative
On each theme's page, you can find which quality marks or materials within that theme can receive a label.
Why make your product range more sustainable?
- Choice. For most of our customers, sustainability plays a role in their purchasing decision.
- Visibility. This product range receives a special label, giving it more visibility.
- Future. Sustainability is extremely important for retaining the customer of the future.
- Costs. There are no additional costs.
bol currently recognizes quality marks in the following themes:
- Less harmful ingredients
- Energy-saving
- Recycled materials
- People & Society
- Less harmful materials
We regularly update the sustainability themes and recognized features and quality marks, adding new ones where necessary. We will keep you informed.
Recognizing items
Our label indicates that an item has significant (sustainability) benefits compared to similar items. You can therefore recognize these items at bol by the Good Choice Label on the item, which you will see both on the item page itself and in the search results. Here is an example:
Items with the Good Choice Label can be found via:
- the globe icon next to your item
- the product range page with all categories
- the list of all items with highlighted quality marks and features
Labels for multiple themes
Do you want to request labels for multiple themes? You can do this all in one form.
Requesting a sustainability label
Do you sell a product range with sustainability benefits? Then it is possible to request one or more labels by following these steps:
- Check if your product range meets the criteria for the desired label.
- Download the sustainability features file using the button and indicate for each EAN which quality mark your item carries. Does the quality mark apply to the entire brand? Then fill in the 'brandlevel' tab with the brand name and the quality mark.
- Upload the proof for your sustainability quality marks so we can be sure your product range qualifies.
- Fill in the form and click 'send'. The form can be found on every theme page. See the menu on the left for this.
- You will receive a response from Partnerservice within 2 working days.
