Pre-notifying dimensions

For a smooth delivery and satisfied customers, it is important that the item packaging dimensions are filled in correctly. Based on this, we determine how an item will be shipped. Read more here about pre-notifying dimensions.

Based on the item packaging dimensions (length, width, height) and weight, you can offer the best shipping options. The more accurate the dimensions, the better we can help the customer. We use these dimensions to determine:

  • Whether the parcel fits through the letterbox
  • Whether it can be delivered to a collection point
  • Which carrier and delivery option are possible

Research from bol shows that entering the correct dimensions can save a lot of time and increases the chance of positive reviews. For example, customer satisfaction is 23 percentage points higher for items with entered dimensions, and reliable handling by carriers also increases by 10 percentage points. Entering the correct dimensions therefore leads to better delivery performance and fewer customer questions!

Which dimensions are we talking about?

By dimensions, we mean the packaging of the item itself — for example, the LEGO box — and not the shipping packaging.

How do you enter the correct dimensions?

Open your seller account

Select the item and go to the 'Content' tab

Scroll to ‘Optional’ and enter the dimensions and weight

  • Always fill in all fields: length, width, height, and weight
  • Use centimeters and kilograms
  • If in doubt, measure the packaging. Do not enter estimates!
  • Check if the entry is correct before saving

Prevent inconvenience for your customer!

If the item dimensions are not entered or are incorrect (for example, 1x1x1 mm or entered in millimeters instead of centimeters), we cannot make a good estimate of the delivery options. This can lead to the customer having to stay at home unnecessarily. For example: the parcel fits through the letterbox, but we have not communicated that in advance. As a result, the customer waits at home for a parcel delivery.
