Definition

An item that uses no or less environmentally harmful materials or ingredients than similar items with the same function, as shown by a quality label or established product feature.

Labels

The following labels can be assigned to items within this theme:

  • PFAS-free: Items produced without using PFAS compared to similar items that still contain PFAS.
  • Microplastic-free: Items produced without using microplastics compared to similar items that (still) contain microplastics.
  • Avoids harmful substances: Items with a quality label meeting standards beyond legal requirements, or an established product feature using no or fewer substances that may be harmful to humans, animals, or the environment.

An item must carry one of the marks or quality labels below to qualify for a label.

Requesting a sustainability mark

Do you sell a product range with a mark or quality label yourself? Then you can request one or more labels by following these steps:

  1. Check whether your product range meets the criteria for the desired label (see themes);
  2. Download "Request_Form_Sustainability_Marks" using the button below and specify per EAN which quality label your item carries. Does the quality label apply to the entire brand? Fill in the ‘brandlevel’ tab with the name of the brand and the quality label.
  3. Upload the evidence of your sustainability quality labels so we can confirm your product range qualifies.
  4. Fill out the form and click 'send'. You can find the form on every theme page. Check the menu on the left.
  5. You will receive a response within 2 business days.
