Definition
An item with a quality seal that sets requirements for how raw materials are extracted and how the item is manufactured, with consideration for the environment, or with an established item attribute that provides transparent information about this.
Labels
The following labels can, where relevant, be assigned to items within the theme:
- Organic: Items with the EU organic quality seal, where human welfare, animal welfare, the environment, and biodiversity are taken into account during production.
- Controlled cultivation: Items made with raw materials cultivated under strict supervision: they feature a quality seal or an established item attribute that restricts the use of, for instance, pesticides and/or synthetic fertilizers.
- Controlled origin: Items with a quality seal that sets requirements to prevent issues such as deforestation and overfishing.
- Environmentally conscious production: Items produced with consideration for the environment, as indicated by the quality seal they carry.
Suitable marks and quality seals
An item must feature one of the marks or quality seals listed below to be eligible for a label.
Labels for multiple themes
Do you want to request labels for multiple themes? You can do this all using 1 single form. So you don't need to fill out a separate form for each theme.
Requesting a sustainability mark
Do you sell a product range yourself that features a mark or quality seal? Then you can request one or more labels by following these steps:
- Check whether your product range meets the criteria for the desired label (see themes);
- Download "Request_Form_Sustainability_Marks" using the button below and specify per EAN which quality seal your item features. Does the quality seal apply to the entire brand? Then complete the ‘brand level’ tab with the brand name and the quality seal.
- Upload the proof of your sustainability quality seals so we can verify that your product range is eligible.
- Fill out the form and click 'send'. You can find the form on every theme page. See the menu on the left.
