Sustainability features
Together with you, we want to offer customers a wide product range – including items with specific benefits. We inform our customers about these sustainability features through our label. Items with features that have a demonstrable sustainability benefit compared to similar items. Bol makes these features visible with labels within themes such as energy, drinking water, and resource conservation, so customers can make more conscious choices.
Within our wide product range, it is important that customers can make well-informed choices. Not only based on specifications or quality, but also regarding the origin, production process, and environmental impact of items. Our customers are looking for items with sustainability features, and it is our responsibility to inform them correctly about this. Items with features that have a demonstrable sustainability benefit compared to similar items are made easily recognizable and findable in our store. So as a partner, it is extra important to label your items properly!
When does an item qualify for a label?
Within the bol product range, items are labeled with a sustainability feature if they meet at least 1 of these 3 points:
- The item has an approved quality mark
- The item has an approved feature (e.g. washable nappy)
On the page of each theme, you can find which quality marks or features within that theme can receive a label.
Why make your product range more sustainable?

Bol currently recognizes quality marks and features in the following themes:

We regularly update the sustainability themes and recognized features and quality marks, and we will keep you informed about them.
Recognising items
Our label indicates that an item with features has a demonstrable sustainability benefit compared to similar items. You can recognize these items at bol by the sustainability features label on the item, which you can see on both the item page itself and in the search results. Items with a sustainability feature can be found via the product range page with all categories. When your item carries a label, your product range is easier to find and recognize – and that increases the chance of sales! Here is an example:

Do you want to request labels for multiple themes? You can do this all in 1 form.
Requesting a sustainability feature
Do you sell a product range that has a feature or quality mark? Then you can request one or more labels by following these steps:
- Check whether your product range meets the criteria of the desired label (see themes);
- Download "Request_Form_Sustainability_Features" using the button below and indicate per EAN which quality mark your item carries. Does the quality mark apply to the entire brand? Then fill in the 'brandlevel' tab with the name of the brand and the quality mark.
- Upload the proof of your sustainability quality marks so we can be sure your product range qualifies.
- Fill out the form and click 'send'. The form can be found on every theme page. See the menu on the left for this.
- You will receive a response within 2 working days.
