Definition
An item that helps reduce the use of new raw materials compared to the conventional alternative. By using raw materials longer, for example through second-hand, repair, refurbishment, or by enabling a generally long lifespan. Or by saving raw materials through the use of recycled materials or a digital version.
Labels
The following labels can be assigned to items within this theme:
- Second-hand: Items that get a second life with another owner, meaning they don't have to buy a new item and new raw materials are saved.
- Refurbished: Items that are made like new again by replacing parts, requiring fewer new raw materials in total.
- Digital version: Items that are delivered digitally, saving significant raw materials compared to physical alternatives. The saving of raw materials during production is greater than the energy consumption during use.
- Extends lifespan: Specific items that repair other items, allowing them to be used longer and requiring fewer new raw materials in total.
- Repairable: Items that can be repaired by the user themselves, and where repair is made possible by the manufacturer through repair information and parts that remain available for a long time. Repair saves raw materials needed to make a new item.
- Min. XX% recycled: Items made from at least XX% previously used raw materials, requiring fewer new raw materials.

Requesting a sustainability label
Do you sell a product range that has a certificate or quality mark? Then you can request one or more labels via the following steps:
- Check whether your product range meets the criteria of the desired label (see themes);
- Download "Aanvraagformulier_Duurzaamheidskenmerken" using the button below and indicate per EAN which quality mark your item carries. Does the quality mark apply to the entire brand? Then fill in the 'brandlevel' tab with the brand name and the quality mark.
- Upload the proof of your sustainability quality marks so we can be sure your product range qualifies.
- Fill out the form and click 'send'. The form can be found on every theme page. See the menu on the left.
- You will receive a response within 2 working days.
