Recalls and safety warnings
At bol, item safety always comes first. In some cases, it is necessary to actively inform customers about a potential risk or to remove an item from sale. Below you can read what you can expect from us and what we expect from you in these situations.
Safety Warning
A safety warning is an official notification to the customer about the risks of an item that may not work correctly or is so damaged that it could lead to dangerous situations. In serious cases, this can result in a recall.
Have you noticed that an item might be unsafe? Please contact our Partnerservice immediately. Provide the item number and a clear description of the risk. Together with you, we will prepare the warning and ensure it reaches the customer.
Initiating a recall as a partner
If an item you sell via bol turns out to be unsafe or does not meet legal safety requirements, you are obliged to initiate a recall and take the item offline as soon as possible.
In that case, please contact our Partnerservice as soon as possible. We ask you to provide the following information:
- Item details (item number, brand, model/type, etc.).
- Description of the risk or how it is damaged.
Because privacy laws prevent you from having (unlimited) access to customer data, we will maintain contact with the customer. Naturally, we will keep you involved throughout the process and support you where necessary.
Recall initiated by bol
If we learn, for example, through customer complaints or official organizations, that an item may be unsafe, we can also organize a recall ourselves. In that case, we will contact you, inform the affected customers, and involve you in the further handling.
