The importance of choosing the right product category
To correctly fill in and display the content online, it's important to choose the right product category for your items. This also improves discoverability. Based on the product category, items are placed in the store and linked to the correct keywords. The product category also helps customers quickly find similar items. Content details form the basis for filters on the website, which customers use to refine their search. The more content details known about your item, the more targeted customers can search for it.
Can't find the right content details? Then there's a good chance you haven't selected the most suitable category. Search for similar items in our store and see which product category they are placed in, then choose that one for your item.
For each product category, a number of relevant (mandatory and optional) item characteristics have been determined. If you don't choose the right category, it's possible that not all relevant item characteristics for the item will be requested. This makes the item less discoverable among the available items.
Tip!
When adding a unique item, enter the corresponding product category as soon as possible. Items that have not been assigned to a product category after 10 days will be automatically removed.
Change product category
You can do this yourself. You set this per item via 'Edit content' in your seller account. Please note that changing a product category may also change the (mandatory) content details.
Selecting multiple product categories for my item
An item can only be placed in one product category. The reason for this is that different content details are requested per product category. Therefore, always choose the one that best suits your item.
