Bundles

If you want to offer a combination of multiple items, read below what you need to consider.

To offer bundles via bol, you need to consider the rules that apply to them on the platform. A bundle is a combination of different items sold under one EAN. There are general rules for all bundles, rules for individual items within a bundle, and rules that apply to specific combinations. You can read about these rules below.

GS1-Data Source

Please note: On this page, the terms “GS1 registration” and “GS1-Data Source registration” are mentioned. These are two different registrations. In the food sector, the GS1 data pool is used for this. This is called GS1 Data Source. Manufacturers, brand owners, and distributors enter content into a data pool, and food partners use this data to comply with regulations and to sell. GS1 Data Source registrations are only mandatory for food items.

General rules that apply to all bundles

  • All items in a bundle must be GS1 registered, and the EAN of the bundle must also meet this requirement;
  • All food items within a bundle must have a GS1 Data Source registration;
  • Maximum of 4 different EANs in a bundle;
  • The items within a bundle must also be offered individually;
  • The price of a bundle may not be higher than the individual items combined;
  • All content attributes must be filled in based on the primary item in the bundle;
  • All items within a bundle must comply with bol's brand and assortment policy;
  • In the item description, the EANs and item description of all items in the bundle must be visible;
  • Permission from a brand owner is always required when a bundle contains one or more branded items;
  • If a bundle contains an item for which specific selling rights apply (both brand and category), the bundle must be offered within the category for which these selling rights apply. If these required selling rights are missing, the item concerned cannot be included in the bundle.
