Protect your content for brands
Selected brand owners and official distributors have the opportunity to take control of the content for their own brand items. With content protection, this content can no longer be changed by a third party. This ensures that brand items are highlighted consistently everywhere. This is useful because millions of customers shop via bol and thus come into contact with brand items. Content protection applies to the item description, title, specifications, and images.
Your benefits at a glance
- Regular checks on content are a thing of the past.
- Your brand is highlighted consistently everywhere, ensuring it's presented logically.
- Your registration as a brand owner allows us to act faster in case of issues.
How to know if this is (not) for you
Content protection has its advantages. However, please note that content you previously provided for your brand items – including content that is not currently displayed – will automatically appear on the website retroactively. This content protection applies to all your brand items. This includes items you may no longer sell yourself, but other partners do. This content must also be up-to-date and accurate.
When is content protection not a good option for you?
- Your brand is part of bol's Brand Collaboration Service, because with content protection, the content can only be adjusted by you.
- If the content previously provided to bol is not up-to-date and you don't have the capacity to refresh it. For example, titles from 2 years ago might be displayed if that was the last title provided from your supplier account.
Check your content
If you choose to use content protection, ensure that, in addition to the conditions below, all content for your brand(s) is up-to-date and correct. When your content is protected, your most recently provided content will become visible. This also applies to items you may no longer sell yourself, but other partners do.
Images
Images are also covered by content protection:
- Images added by brand owners will be displayed first, provided these images have the correct labels (e.g., 'front view').
- For each label, images from non-brand owners will appear after the brand owner's images (for example, if you and other parties upload a 'front view', your 'front view' will be shown; if you don't upload a 'side view', that label remains open for other parties).
- Please note: if you, as a brand owner, change a label of an image not added by you, it will not be displayed first. Make sure you also upload all images yourself to gain the full value of brand ownership.
Please note!
Ensure that all your brand items via bol have the same brand name as provided on the registration form. Content protection is only granted to items where the brand name from the brand registration exactly matches the brand name on bol.
