Brand registration guidelines

Interested in registering your brand? Read here to see if your items comply with the brand registration guidelines.

What you need to comply with

Items are offered according to our standard brand guidelines, with the following 3 conditions being the most important:

  1. EAN – Every branded item should have an EAN number. This EAN number must be registered with GS1 in the name of the brand owner. This number ensures that the item is unique compared to other items.
  2. Brand Register – A branded item may only be offered if it is genuinely a branded item. In other words: an item from a brand that is registered with BOIP, under the class corresponding to the product type. The BOIP brand register may also contain a reference to the WIPO (internationally recognized) or EUIPO (European recognized) register. This reference is also sufficient.
  3. Brand Visibility – The brand must be visible on the original product packaging or on the item itself. Additionally, it must be visible on one or more product images on the bol product page.

What you need to comply with

Ensure that all your branded items via bol.com have the same brand name as provided on the registration form. Content protection is only granted to items where the brand name from the brand registration exactly matches the brand name on bol.com.
