Veterinary Medicines (CBG)
Do you want to offer veterinary medicines via bol? Then ensure that your organisation is registered with the CBG for this purpose.
Veterinary Medicines
The sale of certain veterinary medicine items is regulated due to legal requirements and regulations. The Veterinary Medicinal Products Regulation describes all criteria that a veterinary medicinal product must meet. The Animals Act, the Veterinary Medicinal Products Decree 2022, and the Veterinary Medicinal Products Regulation 2022 describe all (Dutch) national criteria that veterinary medicinal products must meet.
As a partner, you are always responsible for ensuring that your offer complies with these requirements. Pay extra attention when you want to offer veterinary medicines. Different rules apply to the Dutch market than to the Belgian market.
Sales in Belgium
It is currently not permitted to offer veterinary medicines in Belgium. For sales in Belgium, the requirements of the Federal Agency for Medicines and Health Products (FAGG) also apply in addition to the above. You are not allowed to sell veterinary medicines online in Belgium, nor export them from the Netherlands.
Sales in the Netherlands
In the Netherlands, the “FREE” category of veterinary medicinal products (veterinary medicinal products available without prescription) may be traded. This concerns veterinary medicinal products intended for both food-producing and non-food-producing animals. This type of veterinary medicinal product ("FREE") is included in the CBG database for veterinary medicinal products.
Therefore, it is mandatory to always fill in the product characteristic “type of veterinary medicinal product”. If in doubt, you can look up your items in the database for veterinary medicinal products.
A product can also be considered a veterinary medicinal product due to a veterinary claim or its nature.
It is not permitted to offer veterinary medicinal products in the categories “UDA”, “UDD” and “URA.”
Registration in the Register of Internet Trade in Veterinary Medicinal Products required
Registration in the Register of Internet Trade in Veterinary Medicinal Products is mandatory for traders who offer veterinary medicinal products for sale via the internet. This concerns veterinary medicinal products with a marketing authorisation or an exemption thereof. These can be found here:
- Veterinary medicinal products included in the Veterinary Medicinal Products Information Bank
- Veterinary medicinal products with an exemption for specific companion animals
Information on applying for a marketing authorisation for a veterinary medicinal product can be found here.
If you only sell products that do not meet the above requirements, you cannot be included in the Register of Internet Trade in Veterinary Medicinal Products.
For registration in the Register of Internet Trade in Veterinary Medicinal Products, a Chamber of Commerce extract and answering a questionnaire are required. One registration for your own web address, with the URL linked to your webshop, is sufficient. You do not need to register separately again for selling via bol. It is important that the registered company name in the register matches the name you use to sell via bol. If you do not have your own website but only sell via bol, you can enter “selling exclusively via bol” as the web address.
If your registration expires, you must inform bol about it.
Furthermore:
- It is mandatory to include an up-to-date leaflet/manual with free veterinary medicines. You can link to the leaflet by using this link in the link attribute of the content: Link.
In place of the XXXX, you fill in the numbers corresponding to the registration number. This number is stated on the outer packaging or in the leaflet inside the packaging. This is the so-called REG NL number. If no REG NL number is mentioned, but for example a REG NL H number, then in this case, you should only state regnl before the number. - A European logo is displayed on every page where customers can add veterinary medicines to their shopping cart
- It is mandatory to fill in "type of veterinary medicinal product" for product characteristics
